Women's Health Services (including osteoporosis)

Osteoporosis is a diseases characterized by low bone density and deterioration of bone tissue (Osteoporosis Canada). A Physiotherapist role in treating those with osteoporosis is to help prevent fractures as well as to improve or maintain muscle and bone mass. Through assessment and treatment geared at improving posture and body mechanics, muscle strength, balance and endurance, physiotherapy will help to improve function and balance, and help to prevent falls. We can help to develop an individualized program of exercise to optimize your bone health.

Women’s Health

Although having joint, pelvic and back pain during pregnancy is common, it should not be thought of as normal. Through assessment the physiotherapist can develop an appropriate treatment plan and exercise program to help with the muscle imbalances, postural changes and weakened muscles associated with pregnancy. The physiotherapist can discuss and assess your musculo-skeletal concerns with regards to the prenatal and post partum period, (including urinary incontinence, symphysis pubis dysfunction, Diastasis rectus abdominus), and develop a treatment plan focused on exercise to help you resume your active life.
